A lot has already been said about the circumstances under which Lionel Messi parted ways with Barcelona this summer and even though it's already more than a week since it was officially confirmed that the Argentine international superstar would not be playing for Barca for the first time in over a decade, it still continues to draw attention and reactions. The news and official announcements followed by the series of interviews made by the Catalan giants' president Joan Laporta are still being talked about and a lot of Barcelona fans are still furious with the club for allowing the greatest player in their history to leave the club in such fashion.
The section of Barca fans who have been left angered by the club's inability to keep Messi may have found their justification following the recent result that Barcelona had in their last match. Barca had to wait till the closing stages of the match before they got their equalizing goal through new summer signing Memphis Depay to salvage a point against their rivals Athletic Bilbao. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and the attention-drawing topic of the game was how Barca struggled to create tangible matches and make the most of them.
Depay has been a shining light for Barca already this season and has now been involved in two goals in his opening two games for the club since making his debut for them last week. He recorded an assist in their 4-2 win against Real Sociedad on the first day of the Spanish La Liga season and came up clutch again for the Catalan giants in his second successive game with a goal.
A not of Barca fans reacted after the match and once again revealed their opinions that they already miss Messi and that they could have a tough season without him.
