BAYERN CLOSE TO EDGE

Despite leading 3-1 on aggregate from the first leg, the German club Bayern Munich were almost knocked out of the Champions league in the last 16 stage after going down 2-0 to Arsenal in the second leg.

After the first leg, many said that the second leg at the Allianz Arena was almost a formality. However, Bayern started to realise that they were in for a tough night after Oliver Giroud scored early in the match through a cross from Walcott. Even though Arsenal threatened the goal on several occasions after pulling one back, they were unable to get the second goal until the 86th minute.
