Barcelona world class forward has reiterated his desire to keep winning trophies, growing and getting better. He says he still has that burning desire to win more silverware – individual and collective – and continue developing as a footballer.
The 30 year old is rated as one of the greatest players in the history of football to have ever the pitch, dominating Europe and the whole world for the past twelve years with Barcelona.
Despite having won numerous trophies, including nine La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League on four occasions, the Argentine star has said there is still a lot more to come from him.
Speaking to Marca, he said, “My main goal is to keep growing and not to be content with what I’ve done, won or achieved. I want to get better each day and complete more objectives and win more titles. I consider myself very competitive. I like to win everything and don’t like to lose at all”.
He also commented on his role in the Barcelona team, with his role becoming more and more withdrawn in recent years. He says he sees himself more as a player who controls games, participates a lot with the ball and makes play more than he sees himself as a goal scorer.
Just last year, “Lionel Messi signed a new contract at the club, extending his stay in Spain until 2021“, meaning it will cost a whole lot of money “to get him away “from Camp Nou at the moment.
At the moment, there are no signs of Messi relenting yet as he continues to dominate on the domestic and European stage.
The star may not be as energetic as he used to be in his younger days, but he definitely still has an incredible turn of pace, amazing footwork and an exceptional balance on the ball.
